TINGLAYAN, Kalinga – More than P5 million worth of marijuana plants were successfully destroyed by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics during an aggressive anti-illegal drug operation that resulted in the discovery of the two marijuana plantation sites in the municipality last June 11-12, 2024.
Earlier, joint operatives from the 1st Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company, Tinglayan Municipal Police Station, Kalinga PPO Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, and PDEA Kalinga launched two separate marijuana eradication operations that resulted in the discovery of 28,000 pieces of Fully-Grown Marijuana Plants (FGMJP) with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P5,400,000.00 in Barangay Butbut Proper.
The operation resulted in the discovery of 15,000 fully grown marijuana plants with a suggested drug price of P3,000,000.00 during the first day of the operation, while an additional 12,000 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants worth P2,400,000.00 were discovered the following day.
All uprooted fully grown marijuana plants were burned on-site after proper documentation, while enough samples were taken to the Regional Forensic Unit-Kalinga PPO for qualitative examination. Concurrently, enforcement operations persist within the province, complemented by community engagement initiatives aimed at gathering intelligence on cultivation activities. By Dexter A. See
