LUNA, Apayao – Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr. has earmarked PhP3.7 million for this year’s Government Internship Program (GIP) under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Apayao.
The GIP beneficiaries underwent orientation on program guidelines and implementation earlier today, June 26.
According to DOLE-Apayao, 60 interns have been deployed across various municipalities and national line agencies within the province. These interns will serve for six months, from June 25 to December 27, 2024, with opportunities for contract renewal based on performance and funding availability.
In addition, Apayao Lone District Representative Congressman Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang has allocated PhP5 million to support GIP, benefiting 100 individuals.
Applications for the program are currently open at the DOLE-Apayao field office.
A key initiative of DOLE, GIP aims to engage young individuals in the projects and activities of governmental entities at local and national levels. By harnessing their talents and skills in public service, GIP seeks to attract bright minds and cultivate their interest in careers within government.
The DOLE GIP offers three to six-month internships to high school, technical-vocational, or college graduates aspiring for careers in local or national government.
DOLE-Apayao Field Office head Jane Y. Adalan emphasized, “Professionalism, courtesy, diligence, and dedication are essential traits as this program serves as a stepping stone to future employment.”
Previous GIP recipients have praised the program for equipping them with skills necessary for their current employment, according to DOLE-Apayao.
The Governor’s Office and Congress affirm their commitment to funding GIP, recognizing it as a pivotal opportunity to provide valuable work experience to young professionals. By Krizza Joy Castillo
