BAGUIO CITY – The newly recommended City Director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) assured local officials and residents of the intensified services of the members of Baguio’s Finest to achieve the societal goal of the city of lasting peace that will contribute to sustainable economic growth.
Senior Superintendent Ramil L. Saculles, recommended by the local screening committee as the permanent BCPO City Director, said the deliverables of the local police force include law enforcement and crime prevention services and crime solution and investigation services with various program components geared towards achieving lasting peace in the city.
Under law enforcement and crime prevention services, Saculles noted the inclusion of the creation of the Motorcycle Response Team (MRT) that contributed to the reduction of response time in deterring crimes, the Oplan Cross Rider which will serve as a test for commanders in addressing high profile crimes in their areas of jurisdiction, the campaign against the presence of Badjaos in the city among other notable programs that have ensured the police visibility, especially in the identified 11 crime-prone areas in the city.
On the other hand, the police official disclosed included in the crime solution and investigation services were case conferences and the intensified campaign against wanted persons to help deter the commission of crimes that will significantly affect the prevailing peace and order in the city.
Saculles explained the left-hand approach to the problems of the city include the civic, health and environment projects aside from the conduct of fora that engage the various cross section of the society in the anti-criminality, anti-terrorism and peacekeeping programs of the local police force.
“We were able to align our operational programs with the mission and vision of the city that is why we are grateful to the members of the local screening committee for having appreciated our programs to sustain the peace and order in the city,” Saculles stressed.
One of the significant accomplishments of the BCPO official during his stint as officer-in-charge and Acting City Director from October 1, 2016, to the present, is the reduction of focus crimes by 71 percent and crime volume by 52 percent.
Based on police parlance, focus crimes refer to the crimes against properties and crimes against persons as well as rape, which are the priority crimes that must be resolved.
Saculles urged the cooperation of the residents and visitors by engaging the law enforcers when witnessing the commission of crimes in their communities so that they could immediately respond to the situation and help in deterring crimes in the barangays.
Saculles was unanimously selected by the local screening committee to be the next City Director of the BCPO after serving for over eight months as Acting City Director of the local police force and that Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan already forwarded his recommendation for Saculles to the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera for the issuance of the appropriate order for his regular position.
