BAGUIO CITY – To show small acts of kindness as a reflection of heroism was among the main points of Baguio City Congressman Mark Go in his speech for the city’s commemoration of the 127th anniversary of Rizal’s Day held on December 30.
“Habang ipinagdiriwang natin ang mga contribution at sakripisyo ni Rizal, inuukit natin ang kanyang ala-ala sa paghahanap sa kung ano ang dating magagawa upang lumikha ng magandang kinabukasan,” Go expressed.
He added that integrity and resilience as important characters in facing adversity also manifested heroism. In addition, standing up for justice, championing equality, moral uprightness, and fostering unity in the communities must be practiced in modern times.
Go also encouraged people to look back on the wisdom of Jose Rizal, inspired Filipinos to desire a better country, and drew motivation to the hero’s commitment to a realistic, constructive, and positive form of nationalism. This empowers people to triumph over various challenges and not as an isolated event that everyone embodies through their everyday actions, “Our heroism lies in our choices.”
“We must see ourselves as architects of a better society,” he said, mentioning the decisions and actions people make that create an impact on fellow citizens. “Let us therefore approach our duties with a high sense of responsibility and a dedication to creating positive change,” Go added.
In every public policy that the offices created, he reminds them to be guided by the principles of equality, education, and genuine concern for the wellness of people for better governance. Also, the congressman focused on the innovation of offices to uplift the lives of the nation.
He ended his speech prompting support for the abilities that benefit the masses which are seen in everyday actions, “Let us be the heroes our nation needs.” By Adrian Mas
