BAGUIO CITY – The leadership of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) commended the personnel of the city police force and the hundreds of volunteers for effectively and efficiently managing the safety and security of the residents and visitors who visited the different public and private cemeteries during the celebration of All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day last week.
BCPO City Director Allen Rae Co said more than 500 police personnel from the different police stations and more than 800 volunteers provided security to people who flocked to the different cemeteries in the city to pay respect to their departed love ones.
The police official also expressed his gratitude to the people who visited the cemeteries for their cooperation with the rules and regulations implemented in the said areas during the twin weekend celebrations that resulted in a peaceful and orderly celebration of the traditional Filipino activities on the first days of November.
“We would like to express our gratitude to everyone for their utmost cooperation in the maintenance of peace and order during the All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day celebrations because we can replicate the success achieved by the implementation of our security plans for Undas. We hope to gain the continuing cooperation of our people to the future security measures we will implement in upcoming activities in the city,” Col. Co stressed.
However, the police official admitted that despite the repeated announcements on the prohibition of bringing in bladed weapons, liquor, cigarettes and other bladed items in the cemeteries, police personnel recovered such prohibited items from some individuals who deposited such in the custody of the police and volunteers.
According to him, the city police force achieved its programmed objectives during the Undas celebration in the city with the cooperation of the public who were obedient to the traffic and security rules and regulations that were implemented to ensure a peaceful and orderly visit of people to the different public and private cemeteries in the city.
On the other hand, he claimed traffic enforcers and volunteers properly managed the flow of traffic going inside and outside the different cemeteries during the weekend while there was a noticeable smooth flow of traffic around the city during the said days considering that people were pre-occupied in spending much of their time in the various cemeteries around the city.
The BCPO tapped the usual volunteers from the different communication groups and the Boy and Girl Scouts, aside from the augmentation from the Police Regional Office in the Cordillera, to ensure safety and security during the celebration of All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day last November 1 and 2, 2019 in the different private and public cemeteries in the city.
