Bontoc, Mountain Province – This capital town recently received 500 sets of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT–PCR) test kits from the Cordillera office of the Department of Health (DOH- CAR).
The provision of the 500 sets of viral transport media and 500 pieces of nasopharyngeal swab was made possible due to the request of the Office of Mountain Province Representative Maximo Y. Dalog, Jr., to the DOH- CAR.
Bontoc Mayor Franklin C. Odsey extended his profound gratitude to Dalog for his request of swab test kits for Bontoc, and DOH–CAR regional director Ruby C. Constantino for her prompt response.
The mayor said the provision of RT–PCR test kits was timely due to the continuous influx of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) coming home to Bontoc, Mountain Province.
He added these test kits will be used in the COVID-19 response of the municipality to prevent and avoid the spread of the virus. Thus, he mentioned that the frontliners and the LSIs coming from places with confirmed active cases of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) are the priorities to undergo the RT–PCR testing.
The mayor likewise assured the continuous support of the municipal government in all undertakings in the fight against COVID-19.
The RT –PCR test kits were received by Mayor Odsey, Sangguniang Bayan member Jerome Tudlong, Jr., and Municipal Health Officer Dr. Diga Kay D. Gomez from Congressman Dalog.
