TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Due to the considerable amount of emergency incidents which occurred from January to March this year, the city government, through the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), reminded everyone to be vigilant and take care of themselves and their friends and families at all times.
In his report, CDRRM Officer Jeremias Ammakiw said that during the first quarter of the year, their office alone responded to about 56 cases, 18 in January, 24 in February, and 14 in March of last year. not counting those of the Bureau of Fire Protection and other emergency responders.
Ammakiw stated that out of the 56 reported incidents, 38 cases involved vehicular traffic accidents, which accounted for the majority of the cases to which they reacted.
A truck that fell, drownings, burning houses, hit-and-runs, mauling, and other non-traffic occurrences including fainting and dizziness, are among the other instances.
As reported, the victims are mostly male, with the youngest being only 5 years old and the oldest being 62 years old.
Ammakiw states that Barangay Magsaysay has the most incidents, with 19 total reported incidents, with Dagupan coming in second with 10 cases, and Laya with 7 cases.
Additionally, Ammakiw said that their office received a total of 96 ambulance requests.
Eighty-two of these requests came from inside Tabuk going to Tuguegarao, and other nearby towns and provinces, according to the CDRRM Officer, while 14 of these requests were for distant areas, such as from Tabuk to Baguio, Manila, and Zambales.
The majority of these requests included patient transfers, but there were also requests for escorting pregnant women, retrieving corpses, escorting patients receiving chemotherapy or dialysis, escorting stroke victims, and other medical emergencies. By Edward Joseph Gacuya
