BAGUIO CITY – The city government paid tribute to former city police director Sr. Supt. Ramil Saculles for his successful stint as head of the Baguio City Police Office for two years.
Saculles who is now assigned to the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management of the PNP General Headquarters in Camp Crame ceremonially took his bow during the flag-raising rites last November 5 after receiving a certificate of recognition “for a job well done.”
Mayor Mauricio Domogan said Saculles’ performance as the city’s police chief was laudable.
“You should be proud of it as we in the city are proud of what our police office achieved under your watch,” the mayor said.
It was during Saculles’ term that the city garnered the recognition as one of the safest cities in Southeast Asia based on data released by Numbeo, which is said to be “the world’s largest database of user contributed data about cities and countries worldwide.”
Citing Numbeo data, the Philippine Star reported that Baguio City placed sixth in the list of cities with the lowest crime and highest safety rates.
It was also during Saculles’ time that the city police was awarded the best police station in community relations.
The mayor said he hopes that Saculles’ successor will sustain the effective programs that he started.
Police Sr. Supt Eliseo Tanding assumed as officer-in-charge in the mean time that a permanent appointee is still being selected.
Saculles, meanwhile, welcomed the adoption of his strategies and programs which he said are far from perfect.
“They can start from them and improve where they see fit. Our criminality and traffic problems are dynamic and can change overnight so they should not stop experimenting,” he said.
