The Committee on Housing and Resettlements was reorganized during its first quarter meeting on February 7, 2023. Guided by the provisions of Executive Order 30 series 2001, the Committee welcomed DHSUD-CAR Dir. Antonette A. Anaban as its new Chairperson.
The Committee elected RDC-CAR Private Sector Representative Engr. Mary Carmelle Bautista as its Co-Chairperson while NEDA-CAR Dir. Susan A. Sumbeling serves as its ex-officio Vice-Chairperson.
The Committee invited four private sector organizations as its members and two more were identified to complete the required private sector membership.
The 2023 Regional Development Report (RDR) containing the notable accomplishments of the region in the housing and livable communities sector was presented. These include the groundbreaking of the Baguio City component of the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program in Topinao,Tuba, Benguet, which is expected to accommodate 6,400 housing units. Also reported are the good qualities of ambient air in urban areas and the sources of water supply servicing households in the region. The RDR is an annual assessment of the region’s performance vis-à-vis the targets set in the Cordillera Regional Development Plan (CAR RDP) 2023–2028.
The Committee also discussed its 2024 Work and Financial Plan (WFP) during the meeting. The WFP reflected priority activities that the Committee will undergo for the year, which include learning sessions and regular updating of issues and concerns in the sector.
The Committee on Housing and Resettlements is a sub-committee of the Cordillera Regional Social Development Committee of the Regional Development Council. This Committee is responsible for identifying directions for establishing livable communities in the region. By Victor Eugene S. Caccam
