BAGUIO CITY – The Cordillera Regional Committee on Sustainable Development Goals (RC-SDG) conducted a two-day Regional Workshop aimed at formulating a comprehensive SDG Catch-up Plan for the region using the Every Policy is Connected (EPiC) Framework recently at the Venus Parkview Hotel, Baguio City.
The workshop participants comprised of representatives from the different regional line agencies, provincial local government units, and private sectors assessed the policy gaps, identified interventions, and charted a course for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
The involvement of stakeholders from various sectors guided by the NEDA-CO GovS or SC-SDG Secretariat, ensured a holistic perspective in crafting the catch-up plan, considering social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development.
In her welcome remarks, RC-SDG Chairperson and NEDA-CAR Regional Director, Susan A. Sumbeling, underscored the importance of a collaborative approach in achieving the SDGs. “The achievement of the SDGs requires a multifaceted approach, encompassing diverse perspectives, expertise, and resources,” she stated. Sumbeling urged participants to actively contribute insights, experiences, and innovative ideas to craft a realistic catch-up plan aligned with the region’s unique needs and potentials.
Throughout the workshop sessions, participants engaged in rigorous discussions and review of the policy gaps hindering SDG implementation in the Cordillera region. By analyzing existing challenges and opportunities, interventions aimed at accelerating progress towards the SDG targets were formulated.
Department of Budget and Management-CAR Regional Director and RC-SDG Co-chairperson, Irene B. Gahid delivered the closing remarks and commended the participants for their dedication and contributions towards achieving the workshop’s objectives. She emphasized the need to align identified programs and projects with the policy directions of the current administration. Gahid also emphasized that ensuring alignment with the administration’s development framework would enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of the proposed interventions.
