BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)- Bontoc Field Operating Unit spearheaded a one-day orientation on the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) to five target barangays in the capital town on April 16, 2024, at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol Auditorium.
The five identified target barangays for the FY 2024 implementation of RCSP are Alab Proper, Balili, Bayyo, Talubin, and Maligcong.
Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Lourdes Claire Peel of the DILG– Bontoc Field Operating Unit remarked that the activity aims to familiarize stakeholders at the municipal and barangay levels with the key components in the implementation of the Fiscal Year 2024 RCSP.
In his message, Bontoc Mayor Jerome “ Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., urged the participants to listen to all the presentations for the orderly implementation of the program.
Tudlong advised the five barangays to ensure that the identified needed programs and services in their respective barangays are the top priority that will benefit the community.
The mayor further said that the orientation is an avenue for the participants, especially the target-identified barangays to raise their queries and concerns about the program.
LGOO II Alex Ian Pacis who is the resource speaker explained that RCSP is a government initiative aimed at addressing community-identified issues through the implementation of government projects. Its goal is to promote sustainable development and peace while ensuring that the community’s needs are met.
He highlighted that the five identified target barangays in Bontoc need to undergo the different phases or work plans as specified in the DILG Memorandum Circular Nos. 2019-169 and 2020-095.
Aside from the identified barangays, in attendance were members of the Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) and the Municipal RCSP Team.
Meanwhile, it is expected that a Serbisyo Caravan will be conducted in the five identified target barangays of which members of the MTF-ELCAC and Municipal RCSP Team, along with partner government agencies will present their respective programs and services for the barangays to avail.
The Serbisyo Caravan, a vital component of the RCSP, is set to address community issues by bridging governance and development gaps. The initiative aims to apply necessary government interventions to achieve sustainable peace, social justice, and community development. By Alpine L. Killa-Malwagay
