BAGUIO CITY April 21 – The number of frontliners affected by the dreaded Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) continues to increase in the city as another nurse at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) tested positive for COVID-19.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the patient is a 22-year old female residing at La Trinidad, Benguet.
He said appropriate measures are now being undertaken by authorities to facilitate contact tracing, quarantine, disinfection and medical interventions to prevent the spread of the disease. The patient is the second nurse from BGHMC to be afflicted with the disease..
The recently confirmed COVID-19 case among frontliners brought to 4 the number of frontliners who are affected by the deadly virus after the implementation of the Luzonwide enhanced community quarantine.
Earlier, a 52-year old employees of the City Health Services Office (CHSO), a medical doctor and a 33-year old BGHMC nurse tested positive of the highly contagious virus following their exposure to alleged COVID-19 patients and reported local transmission of the same.
However, the CHSO employee and medical doctor were able to recover from the virus while the 33-year old BGHMC nurse is now undergoing strict isolation for him to complete the prescribed 14-day quarantine period.
The latest COVID-19 case among frontliners brought to 18 the number of cases in Baguio City where 12 individuals were able to recover, 5 persons are considered to be active patients and 1 person died due to the deadly virus.
