BAGUIO CITY – Ariel B. Surat was crowned the overall champion in the 2016 MR. YMCA Bodybuilding Tilt held December 9, 2016 at the YMCA Function Hall here. Surat, of the Village Sports Club in Paranaque, Manila and also the open weight division champion, bested four other champions in their own weight category to garner the unanimous decision of all five judges for the overall title.
Surat was followed by Rodolfo Lato Jr. from the Sports District Gym also in Manila as 1st runner up, Fredie Pacsi of Kawili Fiitness gym as 2nd runner up, and Joseph Gawidan Jr. of Furukawa Fitness gym in La Trinidad Benguet as 3rd runner up. Nover Pagdon of Muscleaneous and Hein Humilde of Altitude Fitnerss gym came in 4th and 5th runner up, respectively, to complete the top six contestants in the open weight category.
Meanwhile, Glenn Dole Canon from Body Master Gym in Manila bagged the Bantamweight Division title. Lesme Dulfo Jr. of Furukawa Fitness gym came in 1st runner up, while Ian B. Toyong of Rogers Fitness gym in Manila came in 2nd runner up. The 3rd runner up position was bag by Francis Paul Duran of Tauruz Fitness gym while Christopher Almeda of Muscleaneous and Jack G. Ibay-an of Intense Fitness gym in La Trinidad, shared the 4th and 5th runner up position to complete the top six winners in the Division.
The Flyweight Division meantime was dominated by our local Bodybuilders. Steve Ray Lao-lawi of Muscleaneous Fitness gym dominated the judges’ scorecards to champion his weight division, with Junaris Sino Cruz Iron Master grabbing 1st runner up position, Jones Lao-ay of Furukawa muscling his way for the 2nd runner up position, Jao Albay of mix fitness gym wresting the 3rd runner up, and Loreto Tadi and Stallone Lao-ayan, both of Baguio Health Club, bagging the 4th and 5th runner ups position respectively.
The competition also included the exclusive division for Junior and Senior YMCA Bodybuilding enthusiasts and novice athletes as their debut in bodybuilding competition. Three winners were selected in each division as follows: Exclusive Seniors Division, Champion- Abdul Latiff Mamalampac , 1st runner up- Jethro S. Galong, and 2nd runner up-Kevin Joseph Icard. The Junior Division had Reynald Gonzaga as Champion, 1st runner up-Junardo Loiz Duran and 2nd Runner up-Allen Carl Camacho.
The 2016 MR. YMCA Bodybuilding tilt was judged by Atty. Jaz Taguiling, Nick Dumalsin Jr., Johnson Ap-apid, Engr. Troy Mencio and YMCA National Auditor and past YMCA Baguio City President. Engr. Rex Ludaes.
The competition was also graced by the YMCA Board Members headed by Baguio YMCA President, Jerome Gawidan, who encourage enthusiasts in participating in such competitions to promote not only the sport bodybuilding but also the promotion of health and fitness.
