BAGUIO CITY – The district engineering offices of the public works department will work on a 4-progmred program that will prioritize road safety awareness among motorists and guarantee the safety and protection of the passengers.
Engr. Ramiro Cruz, national president of the District Engineers of the Philippines (DELP), said that starting next year, motorists will be able to notice attractive signages that will be installed along strategic portions of national roads informing the public on the importance of road safety which will be beneficial in contributing to efforts in reducing the occurrence of road crashes that compromise the safety of life and limb.
“The DELP wants to play a key role in instilling road safety awareness in the country because we considering the increasing road crashes to be alarming that needs the appropriate interventions that will empower motorists to adhere to the installed signages along our major road networks,” Cruz stressed.
The DELP official disclosed that the group is now working on the completion of a prototype of a modern comfort room that will be installed in strategic areas along national highways that will serve as stopover of motorists to attend to the call of nature to help in intensifying the efforts of concerned government agencies and local governments for the observance of proper health and sanitation practices among motorists under its Toilet ng Bayan para sa Malinis na Pamayanan advocacy program.
He added another major project of the DELP is the construction of state-of-the-art waiting sheds that will serve as waiting areas for motorists along strategic spots on major road networks which will be part of its Silungan ng Mananakay para sa Matiwasay na Paglalakbay program so that motorists and passengers will not be openly exposed to the elements that will result to their contracting serious illnesses that will compromise their health condition.
According to him, the Toilet ng Bayan para sa Malinis na Pamayanan and the Silungan ng Mananakay para sa Matiwasay na Paglalakbay programs will definitely provide motorists and passengers like with comfortable and convenient travel from their points of origin to their desired points of destination, especially when visiting different tourist destinations around the archipelago.
Cruz assured motorists and passengers that the DELP will roll out their major projects on road safety awareness, health and sanitation and passenger safety early next year so that there will be significant improvements that will be done along major roads in the different parts of the country.
The DELP added that part of the organization’s lined up projects will be the conduct of joint trainings for project engineers and contractors on the latest trends of the construction industry so that the quality of government infrastructure projects being implemented in the different parts of the country will not be compromised for the benefit if maximizing the utilization of government resources for the common good.
He underscored the realization of the group’s major projects aside from what had been provided funding by the public works department, will be their contribution in improving road safety awareness among motorists and passenger welfare for Filipinos.
