TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Concerned officials and offices of the city government are participating in a five-day training workshop to update the Local Shelter Plan with the aim to come up with a more responsive and cohesive housing programs for the locality.
To be held from September 14 to September 18, the training workshop features discussions – via the video-conferencing – with speakers from the National Housing Authority (NHA), Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), and other concerned national agencies with much of the seminar dedicated to workshops on the technical process of formulating the Local Shelter Plan.
Mayor Darwin Estrañero, in signing Executive Order No. 65 organizing the body tasked to prepare the Local Shelter Plan, said the Local Shelter Plan will be updated to address the needs of both the formal and informal sector, define objectives for the development of shelter conditions, provide information on the analysis of the housing situation including the identification of housing problems and future housing needs.
Further, updating the Local Shelter aims to determine the affordability of targeted beneficiaries, identify the resources available to meet the objectives and means by which resources can be used most cost-effectively and set out responsibilities and time frame for implementing various measures.
The body tasked to prepare the Local Shelter Plan is composed of the Executive Committee composed of the City Mayor, Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Committee Chair on Research Planning and Development Councilor, SP Committee Chair on Zoning and Comprehensive Land Use Plan, and chiefs of offices of the City Building and Architecture Office, City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), City Engineer’s Office, Community Affairs Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
The Technical Working Group of the body is composed of members of the aforementioned offices of the executive department while the Secretariat is composed of members from the CPDO and CSWDO. By Iryll Sicnao
