BAGUIO CITY – Senator Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong” Go is optimistic that the newly installed drug czar, vice President Lenny Robredo, could further improve the confidence of Filipinos to the present administration’s aggressive anti-drug war from the prevailing 82 percent based on recent survey results to over 90 percent in the coming months.
The neophyte senator said that the Filipinos have already spoken on the present administration’s anti-drug war by showing their confidence on it through the recent survey results that showed that 82 percent of the population are satisfied on the way the campaign is being handled by the concerned government agencies despite the tremendous criticisms being hurled against the same by local and international human rights advocates.
“We hope that our new czr will be able to improve the trust of our people to the anti-drug war now that vice President Robredo accepted the job. We hope that many Filipinos will be satisfied on how she will handle the drug war in the remaining two and a half years,” Senator Go stressed.
He said the President Rodrigo Duterte will be watching in the sidelines on how Vice President will be able to implement her strategies and that it is high time for them to also start counting the innocent individuals who will be affected by the new approaches in handling the drug war.
The Ilongo lawmaker, who has been a trusted ally of President Duterte for more than two decades, claimed that many people were satisfied on the government’s anti-drug campaign because they were able to freely walk on the streets at night without being victimized by criminals who are alleged drug addicts among other similar stories that is why he is wondering why there are still sectors who remain to be critical about the campaign despite its evident success.
Go expressed his well wishes to the Vice President in her new designation as the country’s drug czar with the hope that she will be able to replicate the resounding success of the anti-drug war under the watch of President Duterte.
He underscored that illegal drugs has been one of the causes of crimes in the different parts of the country that is why President Duterte embarked on an aggressive anti-drug war that was obviously successful because of the series of anti-drug operations that neutralized thousands of drug personalities in the different parts of the country over the past three years.
According to him, there will surely be a comparison on the success of President Duterte’s anti-drug war and the outcome of the campaign under the newly designated drug czar in the person of vice President Robredo.
He asserted that it is high time for the new drug czar to work hard to replicate the successful anti-drug campaign under the stewardship of the President because of the already limited time for her to show what could she do to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in the different parts of the country which is being circulated by international drug syndicates.
Go stated that the President was able to show his brand of implementing the government’s anti-drug war and it is now up to the vice President to show hers for the sake of the Filipino people who should be spared from the proliferation of illegal drugs.
