LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Governor Amado I. Espino, III on April 1, Saturday, will distribute
Php17.7 million scholarship assistance to about 1,770 provincial scholars enrolled at the Pangasinan State University (PSU).
The distribution program at the Sison Auditorium starts at 8am.
Dr. Erlinda Fernandez, PSU Scholarship Program Coordinator, said that the provincial government has allocated Php10,000 to each provincial scholar for the Academic Year (AY) 2017-2018 (P5,000 per semester).
Recipients of the scholarship grants are advised to bring the following for their availment of the financial assistance: certificate of registration for 1st semester of AY 2016-2017; grades for the said semester; certificate of registration for 2nd semester of AY 2016-2017; and a photocopy of Identification Card (ID), particularly school ID.
Sustained by the provincial administration, the scholarship program for college students in PSU was launched under the administration of former Pangasinan governor and now 5th district Rep. Amado T. Espino, Jr. to give support to the intellectually-gifted but financially-challenged students.
Aside from the scholarship grants for provincial scholars in PSU, the provincial government also sustains its scholarship grants for academic scholars enrolled in various institutions of higher learning, and grantees endorsed by the National Commission of Indigenous Peoples and the Pangasinan Federation of Muslims Associations.
Provincial scholars in PSU are broken down as follows: Alaminos City (150), Asingan (150), Bayambang (300), Binmaley (75), Infanta (75), Lingayen (400), San Carlos City (220), Sta. Maria (150), and Urdaneta City (250).
Also expected to attend the distribution rites were Sangguniang Panlalawigan members led by Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr.
