The City Administrator’s Office has issued an updated set of guidelines on the operation of the Baguio Athletic Bowl at Burnham Park.
City Administrator Bonifacio Dela Pena said the guidelines will ensure that the facility’s intended purposes will be fulfilled even while the construction projects are ongoing at the site.
“To achieve the rightful purpose of the (facility), which is intended as venue for the practices of local athletes, jogging, walking and sporting events, we have issued guidelines for strict compliance of all,” Dela Pena noted in a memorandum to Sports Development Officer IV Gaudencio Gonzales dated Jan. 5, 2023.
*Time of operation of the facility is from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. except for events or practices coordinated and approved by the city administrator
*Entrance shall be strictly limited to users for sports-related activities only for safety and security purposes due to the ongoing construction
*Local Athletes who are preparing for competitions will log in at the Sports Office before using the facility for free. This includes the volleyball, sepak takraw and futsal courts
*Request letters to use the facility for schools, groups/organizations will be submitted to the City Administrator’s Office, Sports and Recreation Division in advance for proper scheduling purposes
*Department of Education sporting events such as district and city meets, official track and field events and practices for the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) meets are allowed
*Parking will be limited to city employees and contractors
*No littering, loitering, moma chewing, vaping, consumption of alcoholic beverages and public display of affection will be allowed within the facility’s premises.
*Athletes and users are mandated to help in the cleanliness program. By Aileen P. Refuerzo
