TABUK CITY, Kalinga – On July 22, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-Kalinga Chapter hosted a testimonial dinner at the Davidson Hotel to recognize Kalinga’s 2022 Bar passers.
Several illustrious members of the legal community, including Provincial Prosecutor Bartolome Gamonnac, Atty. Eduardo Buliyat, Prosecutor Francisco Calsiyao, Hon. Marcelino Wacas, Hon. Randy Bulwayan, MCTC Lubuagan’s presiding judge, and Hon. Nympha Abbacan, MCTC Pinukpuk’s presiding judge were present during the event.
The event’s guest of honor, Atty. Bryant G. Casiw, the IBP’s deputy director for bar discipline, oversaw the induction of the new lawyers and gave them a warm welcome.
He exhorted them in his message to work harder and be more persistent, pursue their goals, gain more experience to offer more legal services, and mature into assets to the legal community.
In her introductory remarks, Atty. Gertrude Joy Gamonnac, president of the IBP Kalinga Chapter, said that as new lawyers, expectations from them had increased.
She advised the honorees to network at the occasion and take advantage of the chance to seek out the guidance of more seasoned lawyers if needed.
Hon. Minerva Magtanao-Taguinod, IBP Governor for Northern Luzon advised the new lawyers to always act properly and uphold the ethical standards of lawyers.
The testimonial dinner was a monumental event especially for the newly admitted attorneys who had toiled hard to complete the demanding Bar exams as well as for the newly appointed judges, including Hon. Romelyn Gayagay- Alinao, presiding judge of MCTC for Tinglayan-Tanudan, Hon. Mary Jane Aranca- Andomang, presiding judge of MCTC Besao- Sagada, Mountain Province, Hon. Tshaine Maggay- Taguinod, presiding judge of MTCC Tabuk, and Hon. Carlo Oscar Boacon, presiding judge of MCTC Balbalan-Pasil.
The event was indeed a fitting homage to the 32 new judges and lawyers, honoring their achievements and showcasing the virtues of grit, perseverance, and greatness.

Marcela Wangiwang, who shared their Bar journey with the audience.
