TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Officers and members of the various Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) from District 1 of the city, led by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), held a Program Review and Evaluation Workshop (PREW) at the People’s Gymnasium to highlight their various accomplishments, best practices, and the like for the year as well as make plans for the next year.
The program is appropriate, according to CSWD Officer Susana Daluping, since it coincides with the commemoration of the 18th day of the campaign to abolish violence against women and their children.
Daluping advised all participants to consider how they may incorporate additional resources into their upcoming initiatives to support women and children who are victims of violence.
Furthermore, Daluping stated that although various organizations are currently enforcing their protection and numerous special laws have been enacted to address abuse towards them, the issue still exists.
“Tatta, mamati kayu man nu haan ket adu [latta] violence [nga marikna kababaihan ken u-ubbing] dituy ayan tayu, uray uneg iti balay,” she said, citing an example as incestual rape among others.
But as more and more women gain power through organizations like KALIPI and others, many of them are coming out and bravely reporting these kinds of crimes to bring justice to themselves and other victims.
Daluping added that without the support of the KALIPI, the CSWDO could not operate to its full potential.
“Katulungan mi dakayu nga mang-implement dagita programs iti para babbai iti naduma duma nga barangays You are our partners ta man am-ammu yu dagijay issues and concerns iti barangay yu, anya problema dita ayan yu, ket pagti-tinnulungan tayu nu kas-anu tayu isimpa dayta,” she said.
