LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, March 28 – Mayor Romeo K. Salda issued Executive Order No. 18, series of 2020 that placed the whole municipality under extreme enhanced community quarantine starting 12 midnight of March 30, 2020 until 1 midnight of March 31, 2020 following the confirmation of the health department of the first Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) case in the locality.
Based on the recent advisory of the Cordillera Office of the health department, the first case in COVID-19 case in the municipality is a 6-year old female who is a resident of a barangay in the town and had history of travel to Cavite to attend the wake of a relative together with her family.
Under the aforesaid order, the operation of the Benguet Agri Pinoy Trading Center (BAPTC), the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post and all grocery stores will temporarily be suspended on Monday and Tuesday to pave the way for the implementation of the extreme enhanced community quarantine.
However, those that will be exempted from the total lockdown will be the health facilities and sari-sari stores in the barangays and that only the employees of the health facilities and related fields will be allowed to go out of their residences on the said dates while all residents should remain confined in their homes during the extreme enhanced community quarantine.
Salda appealed to the residents of the municipality to cooperate with the aforesaid order to prevent the possible local transmission of the virus so as to prevent the increase in the COVID-19 cases in the municipality.
He also ordered the law enforcers manning the checkpoints in the municipality to close the borders of the locality, except for the main highway in Shilan to prevent people from unnecessarily entering the municipality at the height of the extreme enhanced community quarantine in the town.
