TABUK CITY, KALINGA – The Department of Public works and Highways – Lower Kalinga District Engineering Office (DPWH-LKDEO) was adjudged as the fourth top performing district office in the country in the disbursement of funds for the implementation of various infrastructure projects that were programmed for implementation this year.
DPWH-LKDEO district engineer Ireneo S. Gallato personally received the award from Public works Secretary Mark Villar during a recent conference of the agency’s top officials held in the Visayas last week.
Based on the data obtained from the DPWH, LKDEO had a rating of 89.4 percent in the disbursement of obligated funds earmarked to fund the implementation of priority infrastructure projects within its area of jurisdiction for the first seven months of the year which shows the ability of LKDEO officials and personnel to effectively and efficiently implement the various infrastructure projects that were provided funding by the government through the annual budget.
Gallato claimed that the DPWH-LKDEO fell short in entering the top ten performing districts in terms of absorptive capacity when it garnered a 91 percent rating which is short of 1 percent from the district office that ranked 10 place.
“We are proud of our accomplishment of having been adjudged as the fourth top district office in the country with a high disbursement of funds earmarked for the implementation of our priority infrastructure projects. We attribute our accomplishment to the performances of our project engineers and contractors who continuously work double time to achieve our prescribed goals and objectives,” Engr. Gallato stressed.
The DPWH-LKDEO official said that he will again meet with all project engineers and contractors implementing projects within his area of jurisdiction to remind them of their obligation to exert more efforts in ensuring the completion of their awarded projects on time so as not to affect the overall performance of the district office in the prosecution of infrastructure projects beneficial in providing the motorists convenient travel inside and outside the province.
According to him, the award that was given to the DPWH-LKDEO is a recognition of the individual and collective efforts of the agency’s officials and employees to implement funded development projects beneficial in improving inter-municipal, inter-provincial and inter-regional linkages geared towards improving the socio-economic development in the countryside.
Gallato expressed his gratitude to his personnel for their sincerity and dedication to work beyond their limits to guarantee the realization of their prescribed goals and objectives.
Further, he also expressed his gratitude to barangay, city, municipal and provincial officials for their unrelenting and uncompromising support to the agency that resulted to the realization of its improved performance in the implementation of priority infrastructure projects to improve the overall condition of roads within its area of jurisdiction.
The DPWH-LKDEO has jurisdiction over major national roads within Tabuk City, and the towns of Pinukpuk and Rizal while the Upper Kalinga District Engieering Office covers the national roads in the municipalities of Pasil, Lubuagan, Tanudan, Tinglayan and Balbalan.
