LTO-CAR regional director Francis Ray Almora disclose that the for vehicles with license plate numbers ending in 3 and 4, the registration will still be valid up to June 30, 2020 and can be renewed up to the said date without penalty.
For vehicles with license plate numbers ending in 5 and 6, the registration will still be valid up to August 31, 2020 and that the same can be renewed up to the said date without penalty. For vehicles with license plate numbers ending in 7 and 8, the registration will be valid up to October 30, 2020 and that the same can be renewed up to the said date and for vehicles with license plate ending in 9 and 0, the registration will be valid up to December 29, 2020 and can be renewed up to the said date without penalty.
Almora explained that the basis for registration of motor vehicles without license plates shall be the date of the last official receipt (OR) which shall likewise be extended for 2 months.
According to him, for new registrations, no penalty shall be collected from the owners of vehicles that were purchased or with sales invoice dated March 1 to April 30, 2020.
Almora revealed that the validity of licenses and other permits, including temporary operator’s permit, shall be extended equivalent to the number of days starting from the date of work suspension to the date of resumption in the area and that the same period shall not be included in the computation for accessory penalties and apprehension cases.
The LTO-CAR official asserted that late fees shall be waived if covered by the prevailing extension of validity that was granted to the owners of motor vehicles that will be registered among other licenses and permits.
Earlier, the LTO suspended the processing of the registration of motor vehicles and the conduct of licensing activities when the government ordered the implementation of the Luzonwide ECQ upon the recommendation of the inter-agency task force on the management of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases to prevent the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Almora called on motor vehicle owners and those that want to process their licenses to strictly abide by the prescribed schedule as there will be no longer extension that will be granted to them if they are not able to avail of the agency’s services in the remainder of the year.
He claimed that the prevailing situation in the country is an extraordinary one that is why the government is doing its best to remedy the situation to ease the burden of the ECQ to the motor vehicle owners wanting to process the registration of their motor vehicles and process the renewal of their licenses among other permits being issued by the agency.
