MANKAYAN, Benguet – The municipal inter-agency task force for the management of emerging infectious diseases stepped up the ongoing vaccination of the eligible adult population and pediatric population to help in achieving the government’s goal of inoculating a greater percentage of the populace to add protection to them against the various variants of the dreaded Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Mayor Frenzel A. Ayong stated that the municipal government tapped various sectors to help in informing and educating the unvaccinated residents on the importance of being inoculated to help in gradually and safely reviving the local economy by being protected from contracting severe infection from the virus that might compromise their health condition in the future.
Further, he also engaged the members of the religious sector in the municipality and informed them about the benefits of being vaccinated and empowered for their leaders to share with their members the information on the free vaccination being provided by the government for them to be spared from severe COVID-19 infection.
The municipal chief executive expressed his gratitude to the different religious leaders in the municipality for being open-minded and for having been clarified on their doubts on the available vaccines, and more importantly, for committing to convince their members to be inoculated the soonest.
According to him, people will support the implementation of the various programs, projects and activities of the government to contain the rapid spread of the deadly virus once they are well informed thus efforts are being done to inform and educate more people on the ground to help raising the awareness of family members and relatives the importance of being protected against the virus through the ongoing vaccination.
Mayor Ayong stipulated that concerned sectors must have to be patient in explaining to the people the benefits of being vaccinated against the deadly virus to help them explain these to others.
He claimed that the municipality has more than enough vaccines to be for the residents wanting to be vaccinated so there is no reason for the people not to be jabbed for their added protection against the virus.
The mayor appealed to the residents not to be complacent by ensuring their continued adherence to the implementation of the minimum public health standards to avoid the further surge in cases that might overwhelm the town’s isolation units and health facilities as these are still the best way to combat the further spread of the virus in the community.
While there is an ongoing surge in cases triggered by the Omicron variant, he stipulated that the situation in the locality is still manageable and it is important for residents to cooperate fully to the ongoing implementation of the vaccination and compliance to the minimum public health standards.
