LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The municipal government urged residents in the town’s sixteen barangays honestly declare their vaccination status to guide health workers who are conducting the required inventory of vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals towards formulating enhanced strategies to achieve the desired herd immunity of the town’s population.
On the other hand, Mayor Romeo K. Salda also called on unvaccinated residents to start availing of the vaccines available in the town’s vaccination centers to significantly improve the town’s vaccination status and help the province to be downgraded to Alert Level I in the coming months.
At present, the vaccination rate of the municipality is around 69 percent of the targeted eligible adult population while the vaccination rate among senior citizens is around 60 percent and still counting.
The municipal chief executive pointed out that vaccination will help people get added protection from contracting severe infection of the virus and it is still best for the unvaccinated individuals to start getting their initial dose to help achieve the desired herd immunity.
He assured the unvaccinated residents there is sufficient supply of vaccines in the various health facilities in the municipality or through the ongoing house-to-house vaccination by the different teams organized by the municipal health office to conduct an inventory of the vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.
Earlier, the provincial government requested the different municipal health offices to conduct an inventory of the vaccine status of the people in the different municipalities of the province to determine the actual number of vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals to guide decision makers and policy makers in formulating strategies to increase the vaccination rate in the province.
Mayor Salda stated that some of the residents who are working outside the municipality had already been vaccinated in their respective work places, like in Baguio city and other local governments outside the Cordillera, thus it is important for these individuals to voluntarily declare their vaccination status with the health workers to help in improving the vaccination data of the municipality.
He emphasized the municipal government values the health and safety of the people thus it is putting premium in identifying those who are unvaccinated to inoculate them with the available vaccines.
The mayor asserted that the municipal government respects the belief of some individuals who are against vaccination but they should also respect the decision of many individuals wanting to be vaccinated because they want to ensure their health and safety, as well as their family members and relatives.
