TUBA, Benguet – The Philex Mining Corporation recently recognized three of its employees for having served the company over the past 25 years during simple rites held at the Padcal mine here.
Leading this year’s awardees for their 25 years of outstanding service to the company is lawyer Eduardo Mapanao Aratas, current Division Manager for Legal and Administration of Philex’s Padcal mine.
His fellow awardees were Cecilia Estillore Agbanlog, a classroom teacher and Rita Gullunan Magciano, an attendant at the Guest house.
Philex president and chief executive officer Engr. Eulalio B. Austin, Jr. led company officials and employees in giving recognition to the awardees for services rendered to the company over the past 25 years.
Each of the awardees received from the company a gold watch and a plaque of recognition as their tokens for their unwavering services to the mining company during the duration of their stint to their respective positions.
Aratas, who hails from San Benito Norte, Aringay, La Union, entered the mining company on May 8, 1996. He is married to Adeline Jose Rabanal and they are blessed with 2 children, Angeila Greff and Eddrei Benedic. His aspiration in life before 1996 is ‘if others can, why can’t I.’ He also intends to serve as a lawyer for Christ.
On the other hand, Agbanlog, who hails from San Miguel, Natividad, Pangasinan, has been an employee of the Philex Mines elementary School under the Diocese of Baguio Schools since June 1, 1996. She is married to Fidel Agbanlog and they are blessed with 4 children, Jeffrey, Ericson, John Patrick and Justine Ryan. Her aspiration in life is to enjoy living every moment of her life with her family and to travel outside the country with them.
Magciano, who hails from Luhong, Tinoc, Ifugao, was hired by Philex on August 2, 1996. She is married to George Magciano and they are blessed with 4 children, Elsie, Gregory, Ricky and Rocky. Her aspiration in life is ‘life is short, always choose happiness.’
It has been a tradition for the company to recognize officials and employees that have rendered excellent and outstanding services and have reached milestones in their stay with the mining company.
The recognition rites of the company’s service awardees is usually done simultaneous with the celebration of the town fiesta of its patron saint, Sto. Nino de Prague.
Austin expressed his gratitude to the services rendered by the awardees to the company over the past 25 years that they stayed with Philex, saying that they may continue to serve the company with utmost dedication worthy of emulation by their fellow mine workers.
Philex is the country’s largest producer of copper and gold despite the fact that it is already mining marginal grade ore deposits within its tenement area in its Padcal mine.
Moreover, Philex was able to extend its mine life from December 2022 to December 2024 because of the prevailing high metal prices in the world market for two years now.
