BONTOC – A check of PhP30,000 each was turned over to all the barangays of the First District of Mountain Province on December 12, 2023.
The turnover ceremony was held at the Multi-Purpose Hall during the Two-day Training and Seminar on Barangay Financial Management cum Updates from the Department of Interior and Local Government, and on Barangay Procurement Processes.
The distribution of aid was led by Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr., together with Vice Governor Francis O. Tauli and board members Ezra Samson A. Gomez, Joshua Fronda, and Ken Paulo P. Nacnas and Provincial Treasurer Rafael R. Lingbanan, Jr.
In his message, Lacwasan explained that the provision of financial assistance is in compliance with the Local Government Code, and it is also in line with his banner program – the Barangay Muna.
“Anya kayat na sawen ti Barangay Muna? Siguro shortcut, “Walang maiiwan na barangay. Sama-sama tayo sa barangay na uunlad”. Didiay ti Tagalog na,” Lacwasan added.
Aside from the PhP30,000 aid to each of the barangay governments, Lacwasan also mentioned other forms of assistance being given to the province’s constituents at the barangay level. Some of those he identified include the mortuary assistance to deceased incumbent barangay officials, financial assistance to barangay health workers, and child development or daycare workers. The fund, as aid to barangay development, is being used to purchase some of the requested items, supplies of the barangays and other needs.
In addition to the aid to the barangays, Tauli said that he and the rest of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will work closely with the Governor for the possible increase of the PhP30,000 financial assistance.
“We at the SP will all work with the Governor for that possible increase,” the Vice Governor said.
Meanwhile, Gomez, Fronda, and Nacnas were one in extending their congratulations to the barangays officials and also expressing their full support to the Barangay Muna Program of the governor. By MP
