TABUK CITY, Kalinga – On Friday, September 29, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA)- Kalinga inaugurated and turned over the Solar Power Irrigation Project (SPIP) to irrigators association of barangays Naneng, Lucog and Bagumbayan, this city.
These beneficiary-associations are Dolgadog Communal Irrigation System (CIS), Coddog Naneng CIS, Kobol Kodog Kobait CIS, Cantong CIS, Gawidan CIS, and Nayud Balani SPIP.
The name of the project is Nayud Balani Solar Pump Irrigation Project located in Brgy. Lucog, funded under EGPIP for the calendar year 2023, generating an area of seven hectares.
The mode of implementation is by contract awarded to D’ Brothers International Trading Corporation with a total project cost of PhP3,200,000.00.
Construction was started in March 21, 2022 and completed in November 3, 2022.
According to Engr. Ferdinand Indammog, NIA Kalinga Division Manager, the SPIP is energy-efficient and cheaper since it does not require the use of fuel. It makes irrigation possible in identified areas that greatly helps farmers to increase their crop yield.
Present during the inauguration and turnover ceremony are the representatives of irrigators association (IA) namely Paulino Taguibao of Pinagan Dolgadog IA, Jesse Amla of Naneng IA and Macario Pataray of Gapang Calangocong IA; Lucog Barangay Chairman Nicanor Edas; Oliver Gacuya representing City Mayor Darwin Estrañero; Board Member Glen Amla representing Governor James Edduba; Engr. Benito Espique, Jr., NIA-CAR Regional Manager; and Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang.
