BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan during the regular media Ugnayan last week rejected the idea of having the night market in Harrison road open earlier than the agreed time of 9 in the evening.
Opening the night market earlier would create a disturbance in the flow of vehicular traffic, Harrison road being a busy thoroughfare the mayor said. The time to vend, however may be extended up to the early hours of the morning. The night market opens at nine in the evening and ends at 1:00 AM.
There were plans to transfer said market at the side of Melvin Jones, Burnham Park which the mayor agrees with.
If plans push through, the night market would have a permanent area, and beautify the surroundings at night time. The location would be more safe for the marketgoers, and free Harrison road from traffic the mayor added.
The revenues and income from the night market could then be used for park maintenance, the mayor ended.
The Harrison night market has been a tourist destination including residents who prefer shopping at night time
