BONTOC, Mountain Province – Tocucan-based organization, Chinakhop Farmers and Irrigators Organization, is set to receive a ₱1.1M-worth of agricultural assistance funded by the and the Office of the Presidential Advisor on the Peace Process (OPAPP) through the Department of Agriculture – Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-CAR).
This was announced by Administrative Officer IV Ross Kiat-ong of the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAg) who is also the SIPAT Point Person of the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU).
The assistance is under the OPAPP and DA’s Sustainable and Inclusive Peace and Transformation (SIPAT) Project which aims to invest in human capital through the provision of livelihood opportunities and community-based projects to conflict-affected or vulnerable communities.
The agriculture-based products to be turned over include the following: Dekalb chickens, layer feeds, grower feeds, breeder feeds, lactating feeds, and nets.
Kiat-ong added that the Bontoc LGU has allotted a total of ₱80,000.00 as its counterpart.
The said fund will be used for the conduct of capability development trainings to include organizational management with values formation and culture change, animal health management, and brown egg production.
Further, the organization will shoulder the cost of poultry housing/chicken coops.
