LUNA, Apayao – Shalom Farmers Association of Luna received a livelihood grant amounting to PhP1,481,500 from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Apayao for the acquisition of a combined harvester.
Barangay Shalom, the accredited co-partner, collaborated with the recipients to facilitate the fund support.
The financial aid aims to assist association members in securing employment to support their families. Additionally, it serves as means for farmers to improve their socio-economic status and contribute to the financial well-being of the barangay, extending beyond the association members and reaching the wider community and consumers who will be served by their services.
Hon. Ruben G. Bas-Angan, leading the Barangay Council of Shalom, expressed the barangay’s commitment to providing technical support for the association’s benefit.
Bas-Angan urged the group to complete the necessary paperwork and requirements to ensure the successful implementation of their livelihood initiative.
DOLE Officer Jane Adalan, meantime, emphasized the importance of tracking the impact of government aid on recipients in terms of employment, income, and contributions to the community and barangay economy.
Adalan asked recipients to evaluate how the assistance positively influenced their work and income.
“As our provincial leaders have always desired to see, we should not only keep track of the quantity and number of government aid we have received; we also wanted to see how the assistance contributed to you as recipients in terms of work and income, as well as how it has affected the community and helped your barangay’s economy,” Adalan said.
The aid recipients responded positively and pledged to carry out their livelihood initiative aligning with the project’s aims, objectives, and aspirations. By PIO Apayao
