LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The provincial government will grant P3,000 financial assistance to all job order (JO) employees and consultants and P1,000 to all Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Day Care Workers (DCWs), and Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs) before Christmas.
Totalling to about 2,172, the JO employees and consultants are assigned in different offices to include those assigned at the 14 government hospitals.
The granting of financial assistance was passed through Provincial Resolution No. 691-2017 which was unanimously approved on December 4 by the provincial board headed by Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr.
As stated in the resolution: “the provincial government and its officials find it meritorious to reward, as a token of dedicated service, all job order employees/ contract of service employees/ consultants for their unprecedented efforts and assistance in making Pangasinan always No. 1 in terms of public service.”
The resolution further added that the BHWs, DCWs, and BSPOs are indispensable partners of the provincial government in the implementation of its programs and projects to further alleviate the plight of the needy. Thus, the granting of financial assistance will serve as a form of thanksgiving to the untiring efforts of the barangay workers.
It can be recalled that the provincial government has granted P4,000 financial assistance to all JOs and consultants in 2016.
As explained by Budget Officer Hilaria J. Claveria, the P4,000 financial assistance served as the mid-year bonus while the P3,000 to be granted not earlier than December 15 serves as the year-end bonus of the contractual workers for a total of P7,000 financial rewards for 2017.
The budget officer stressed that although the contractual employees are not entitled to such claims, the provincial government still thought of compensating the hardships of the workers so as to reward them.
