LINGAYEN, Pangasinan–The province of Pangasinan, particularly the Capitol Complex in Lingayen, for the second time plays host to the TIGASIN Triathlon, a post activity of the PangasinanPistayDayat.
Now on its fourth year, the Tigasin Triathlon – organized by the Trisports Solutions, and sponsored by Northern Cement Corporation – will be held on May 12-13 at the Capitol Complex here.
Renowned foreign and local triathletes from various parts of the country to include showbiz personalities and beauty titlists will join the rigorous sports in a battle for supremacy in a standard distance triathlon with 1.5km swimming leg, 40km biking leg, and 10km running leg.
Governor Amado I. Espino, III welcomes the second-time hosting of Pangasinan of the two-day sporting event as another opportunity to promote the province as an ideal venue of sporting events.
On its maiden bow in Pangasinan last year, also as part of the PistayDayat revelry, Tigasin Triathlon not only featured the beauty of the province, but opened doors for locals to witness such sport, as well as to inspire them to engage in rigorous sports activities.
The participants in last year’s triathlon event in Lingayen expressed admiration to the provincial government for its well-maintained facilities and grounds, as they remarked on the wonderful environs of the Capitol Complex.
Preceding the triathlon event proper on May 13 is the open water swimming competition on May 12.
Contested categories are: standard distance male (open), standard distance female (open), sprint male (open), sprint female (open), male standard distance by age group, female standard distance by age group, female sprint by age, male sprint by age, standard distance relay, and sprint relay. /Mark Gerry Naval Oblanca
