Republic Act (RA) 533 created Tabuk as a municipality of the then Kalinga-Apayao sub-province while RA 9404 converted Tabuk as a component city of Kalinga province on June 24, 20007.
Since then, Tabuk steadily grew into one of the fastest growing component cities in northern Luzon and is now being considered by the Regional Development Council (RDC) in the Cordillera as a future growth center due to the bright prospects of development in the city due to the availability of vast tracks of land suitable for big ticket projects.
Tabuk has a land area of more than 700 square kilometers and is considered as the third largest city in the country behind Davao and Ilagan in Isabela.
The theme of this year’s founding anniversary and Matagoan festival is “Journey to the City of Life” which is the city’s identity, being the melting pot of various cultures in the Cordillera and Cagayan Valley regions. By Dexter A. See
