The National Task Force Support to Barangay Development Program (NTF-SBDP) inaugurated the road projects situated in the three barangays of Bauko on June 19. The road projects with a total cost of 12M pesos include the improvement, rehabilitation, and upgrading of Bagnen Oriente to Bagnen Proper Road, Bagnen Proper to Balintaugan Road, and Balintaugan Road to Maket-an Road.
These projects were realized in accordance with the Executive Order No. 70 which created the NTF to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC), along with the Local Government Unit (LGU) to address development needs in Bagnen Oriente, Bagnen Proper, and Balintaugan, Bauko, Mountain Province.
Fr. Lawig Ngaya-an initiated the blessing of the road facilities followed by the ribbon cutting which was led by Hon. Maximo Y. Dalog Jr., Congressman of Mountain Province, and Hon. Randolf T. Awisan, Municipal Mayor of Bauko.
In addition, Hon. Domingo K. Bissok, Barangay Captain of Bagnen Oriente, Hon. Martin Langtiwan, Barangay Captain of Bagnen Proper, Gregory G. Garcia Sr., the Barangay Captain of Balintaugan, representatives of each barangay beneficiaries were also present.
In his speech, Hon. Awisan, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the success of the SBDP projects. “We are grateful to those who put effort and worked hard from the start until the completion of these projects,” said Awisan.
Furthermore, the Mayor reminded the community to keep the spirit of unity and be responsible for taking care of the project given by the government. He also stressed that the community people should remember the goals set to achieve through combined efforts of the stakeholders.
“I hope this project will remind us of what we have to achieve through the collective efforts of the community members working with the government”, reiterated Awisan.
Meanwhile, the barangay captain of Bagnen Oriente stated that the SBDP projects will improve the mobility of people and increase the livelihood opportunities in the community.
On the other hand, Agusta Combisen, a resident of Balintaugan said that the road projects promote safety in the community.
“The improvement of our road contributes a lot to our community. It helped ease the transportation of our farm products to the market, makes travel time shorter, and improves safety of all travelers”, Combisen stated.
Combisen further stated that the project assures the safety of children whenever they go to school. By Via E. Ligtas
