PINUKPUK, Kalinga – A husband and wife, both senior citizens, were stabbed to death in their own home by their neighbor in Pinukpuk, Kalinga, last night.
The victims were identified as Ruben Dangiwan, 65 years old, and Apolonia Dangiwan, 63 years old, both residents of Sitio Magtanga, Brgy. Wagud Pinukpuk, Kalinga.
According to PCapt. Ruff Manganip, the suspect was identified as a 24-year-old male neighbor of the victims, and was apprehended following a hot pursuit operation conducted by members of the Pinukpuk Municipal Police Station.
Manganip stated that the stabbing occurred at around 9:30 PM on May 16 at the victims’ residence, prompting an immediate police response and identification of the neighbor as the prime suspect, after the father reportedly admitted his son’s involvement in the crime.
The ongoing investigation revealed that the brutal attack arose from a drinking session between the suspect and the male victim earlier that evening, with tensions escalating over alleged remarks about infidelity, leading the suspect to violently assault the victims upon returning to their home.
The victims sustained multiple stab wounds to their heads and upper torsos.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Pinukpuk Police Station and is undergoing inquest proceedings.
