BAGUIO CITY – SM Foundation’s Operation Tulong Express thru SM City Baguio employees reaches out to the affected families in Baguio City in coordination with the City Social Welfare Development Office including the victims of calamity in Itogon, Benguet brought by the onslaught of Typhoon Ompong.
A total of 500 relief packs were distributed to the affected families in Baguio City which includes barangays City Camp Central, City Camp Proper, Lourdes Subdivision Extension, Lourdes Proper, Lower Rock Quarry, Middle Rock Quarry, Lucnab, Kias, Loakan, Happy Hallow, and Pucsusan.
Also, the employees of SM City Baguio trooped to Itogon to distribute relief goods to the victims of Typhoon Ompong. A total of 370 relief packs were turned over to the Municipal Social Development Office of Itogon for distribution to the victims in that area.
Through the presence of SM Foundation’s Operation Tulong Express, SM City Baguio was able to provide Kalinga Packs which consists of bottled mineral water, rice, ready-to-eat meals and instant noodles in a timely manner and free of contamination. In heavily affected areas, SM Foundation also conduct medical missions to provide basic medical care and first aid treatments.
SM Foundation has also activated its calamity-response program Operation: Tulong Express, with donation kiosks set up at the Upper Ground Floor of SM City Baguio in front of the escalator. All donations collected will be turned over to Caritas. The foundation is enjoining mall shoppers and tenants to donate cash or relief goods like canned goods, bottled water, blankets, clothing and other basic necessities like cleaning aids that would be distributed to the victims in various areas affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Ompong.
