TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The city will still remain as the face of Kalinga, being one of the most developed areas and a beacon of robust economic growth in the future, Gov. James Edubba said here Monday.
Edubba was among the city’s guests during the main program for the celebration of the 74th Tabuk Founding Anniversary, 23rd Matagoan Festival and 17th cityhood anniversary held at the city gymnasium Monday morning.
He called upon officials, community leaders and citizens to remain committed as they journey together towards the City of life as the city’s direction towards becoming a Smart City reflects their unwavering commitment to progress, innovation and sustainable development.
“Let us reaffirm our dedication to our journey. Together, we will make Tabuk not only a City of Life but also a beacon of hope, unity, and progress for future generations. May we all continue to journey together to the City of Life,” Gov. Edubba stressed.
“Tabuk city will always be the face of our province, and what people see and hear about Tabuk reflects the image of our province as a whole,” he added.
The governor claimed that in every journey, there is a starting point and that the city’s journey began 74 years ago led by visionary leaders who laid the foundation for the thriving city people see today.
“We owe a great debt of gratitude to these pioneers whose dedication and foresight cleared the path for us. They ensured that our journey was safe and that every step taken was a step towards a brighter future. As we look back, let us honor their legacy by continuing their work with the same passion and commitment,” Edubba added.
According to him, reflecting on the city’s journey, he was reminded of the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt, striving towards the promised land and their journey was marred by divisiveness and self-interests causing many to lose sight of their ultimate goal, thus, Tabukenos must learn from their experience and avoid the pitfalls of discord and personal agenda.
He explained that instead, Tabukenos must focus on their shared vision ensuring that their path remains clear and their destination within reach.
He emphasized that the city’s Matagoan festival always upholds Tabuk as the City of Life which represents more than just progress and development but it also symbolizes unity, cooperation, and a community where people live together in peace and harmony.
Further, it means a safe place and a city of refuge, with leaders who lead with utmost integrity, serving as role models for its people to be law abiding citizens.
He pointed out that it is a place where every citizen’s contribution is valued, and everyone has a stake in the city’s collective future.
Edubba underscored that the city’s strength lies in the people’s ability to work together, support each other and maintain their focus on their shared goals. By Dexter A. See
