TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The city government, led by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), organized a program in honor of National Children’s Month in which students from the various child development centers (CDCs) in District 2 competed in a variety of events in Barangay Cabaritan.
Under the theme “Healthy, Nourished, Sheltered: Ensuring the Right to Life for All!”, the competitions included a fashion (UNCRC) show, laga show, draw and tell, cultural category, and solo singing.
In her message, CSWD Officer Susana Daluping thanked everyone for their participation including the students, parents, guardians, barangay authorities, and child development workers (CDWs).
“Haan da lang nga ag-provide iti care para ti u-ubbing nu di ket i-develop da isuda,” she said of the CDWs.
Daluping further entreated that, whenever possible, parents and guardians teach their children at home in order to support the CDWs.
With regard to the celebration’s theme, Daluping stated that neither their office nor the CDWs could accomplish the same on their own because it requires the entire community to give the kids a safe and healthy environment.
Basil Baluyan, speaking on behalf of Acting City Mayor Dick Bal-o, stated that children are lucky nowadays since the local government is placing a greater emphasis on their development, growth, and protection.
Quoting the famous Jose Rizal’s words, “the youth is the hope of the Motherland,” Baluyan said the local government is doing its best to shape and guide them to attain their fullest potentials.
“Iti kangrunaan launay nga ikkan iti importansya iti gobyerno ket dagiti u-ubbing ta isuda ti mangbukel kadagiti maudi nga kaputotan,” he further stated.
