TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Leaders of Tabuk City and the province of Kalinga called for concerted efforts in the campaign for regional autonomy during the kick-off of the 36th Cordillera Month celebration today, July 3, at the Kalinga Sports Complex.
In his message delivered by Vice Mayor Dick Bal-o, Mayor Darwin Estrañero underscored how important it is that all provinces in the Cordillera are one in the quest for autonomy.
“It is our hope that together with other Cordillera provinces the Cordillera Autonomous Region will soon be established,” he said.
He also emphasized the crucial role of local government units in a successful information, education, and communication campaign.
“The participation of the local government units in the pursuit of peace and development in the Cordillera region especially in the IEC for the autonomous campaign is vital for the reason that the LGUs are on the ground, that they are the frontliners,” he said.
In his message read by Vice Governor Jocel C. Baac, Governor James Edduba committed his “wholehearted support and cooperation” to the pursuit of regional autonomy.
He said “everyone from all walks of life must join their efforts together” saying that he firmly believes that “as an autonomous region, we can have the further capacity to accelerate the development of our region and our province as well.”
He underscored the meaning of the Unity Gong which has been sounded once again to gather every Cordilleran for the renewed fight for autonomy.
“Let the sound of the Gong echo through the mountains, valleys, and plains of Kalinga, resonating with the spirit of unity and determination that flows within us. May it serve as a rallying call, igniting the fire of hope and progress as we move forward together,” the Vice Governor stated.
