BAGUIO CITY – Ruiz Optical Clinic (ROC)-A, Dos Republic, Inatech Service Center and Baguio General Hospital-Employees emerged triumphant when the final games of the 2017 YMCA CUP finished on November 29, 2017, at the MCA Gym, here.
The four bracket basketball tilt started its final games last week with ROC-A going against BENECO-VOLTZ in a knock-out game for the championship. ROC won the race to be reigning champions for bracket “Y”. BENECO Voltz settled for the runner-up position while 2nd Runner up goes to the DOPE Squad.
Dos Republic bagged the “M” championship against the Monday Ball club while the Falcons/TERTE landed 2nd runner up’s in the race.
On the other hand, Inatech Service Center ruled bracket “C” as champions, followed by 1st runner up-STINGERS and 2nd runner up-Kuya Ponz. Bracket “A’s” Baguio General Hospital-Employees bagged the championship, relegating COMELEC to 1st runner up, and the SPEARS to 2nd runner up.
Meanwhile, bracket Y’s Johnny Pascua of BENECO VOLTZ, Billy Tolentino of Monday Ball Club for bracket “M”, Arvin Almazora of INATECH for bracket “C” and BGH-EMPC’s Vonn Padilla for bracket “A” were selected as the Best Players by the tournament committee.
The University of the Philippines, Employees and Faculty ended the awards for the 14th YMCA Cup for 2017. They won the YMCA Cup Award, given to participating teams who selected by the committee for discipline, role play as leaders, and strict compliance of the rules of basketball. The team was awarded for being the model team in this year’s basketball tilt.
The closing ceremony for the 14th YMCA CUP was graced by the YMCA Board of Directors and Staff.
