SABANGAN, Mountain Province – Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) returnees of Sabangan, Mounain Province have something to be exulted now because Madam Evelyn C. Laranang, O-I-C Regional Director of OWWA, just approved the funding for their one day orientation and planning workshop.
According to Ms. Dina C. Ponciano, OWWO III, of OWWA Regional Office, the O-I-C Regional Director immediately signed the approval with a comment that it must be implemented the soonest possible time upon reading the training design on the orientation and planning workshop for OFW returnees or Former OFWs submitted from the office of the OFW/Migrant Desk Focal Person duly endorsed by Mayor Venancio E. Lipawen .
The Regional Director was quoted saying when reviewing the proposed training design “I am happy that Mayor Venancio E Lipawen is very supportive to our program to help our modern day heroes” Ponciano added.
Said approved Orientation and Planning workshop activity for Former OFWs of Sabangan was set on November 14, 2016, to be held at LGU Function Hall, Sabangan, Mountain province. One hundred(100) former OFWs surveyed by the Office of the OFW/Migrant Desk were targeted as the participants of this activity.
In the orientation, Ms. Edna Banga-an of OWWA will be expounding on their programs especially those that are very suitable for the former OFWs. On the Planning workshop, The Participants will be organized as benchmark for their planning session. The participants will also be planning on the first Migrants Day celebration on June 2017.
On other related development, Mr. Leonado “nards” Doguil, of DOLE Provincial Office, signified his willingness to extend assistance upon learning of the proposed activity when he was at Sabangan on October 27, 2016, Orienting the 54 TUPAD(TUlung PAngkabuhayan for Disadvantage sector) worker employed by DOLE. He said that he would be happy to come if he will be invited to orient the former OFWs about DOLE’s existing program and to assist them on how to register their organization with their office so they could easily avail on their projects and programs. Mayor Lipawen promised to invite him.
