BUCAY, Abra – A 40-year old carpenter died while an 18-year old mechanic was injured after their motorcycles collided head on in the center of the road at Layugan here Wednesday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Robert Barroga, 40, married, carpenter, and a resident of Sitio Al-aludig, Layugan, Bucay, Abra while the injured individual was named as Tabaday Panela, 18, single, mechanic, and a resident of barangay Basbasa, Tayum, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the two motorcycles driven by the fatality and the injured individual were travelling in opposite directions when upon reaching the place of incident collided head on that inflicted injuries to the occupants of both vehicles.
The motorcycle drivers were rushed to the Bucay District Hospital for medical treatment but they were transferred to the Abra Provincial Hospital for further treatment.
However, the fatality was declared on arrival by attending physicians while the injured individual was subject to further medical procedures.
Further, the fatality was said to be under the influence of liquor at the time of the occurrence of the said incident.
