Over a thousand residents in Sablan, Benguet reaped benefits of the 6th leg of the HEALTHIER Benguet Caravan spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Benguet led by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas in collaboration with the Municipal Government of Sablan headed by Mayor Alfredo Dacumos, Jr.
The Caravan, held Friday, March 22, at the Municipal Gym in barangay Poblacion, featured medical-dental services including minor surgery, circumcision and incision, consultation, ultrasound, laboratory services, ECG, dental care, and eye check-up with complimentary eyeglasses provided through Fred Hallows Foundation.
In addition to the healthcare services, residents availed of other government services such as free legal advice, free seeds and seedlings, and veterinary services like spaying and neutering, anti-rabies vaccinations, deworming, consultations, mange treatment, and cattle artificial insemination.
Children with disabilities were provided with food packs, while one family received financial aid for a member’s medical expenses. Other services included real property tax collection, patent distribution, and processing of NBI Clearances, PhilHealth enrollments, and PSA registrations.
Governor Diclas acknowledged the collective effort of the different offices at the Provincial Government and the participation and assistance of various government agencies such as Department of Health (DOH), Baguio General Hospital (BGH), NBI, PSA, PhilHealth, DICT, PNP, BFP, and other volunteers such as Lion’s Club, Baguio Dental Association, Benguet Association of Optometrists, and Philippine RedCross.
Residents, like Regina Tad-o from Kamog, Sablan, expressed appreciation for the assistance provided and hope the same will be conducted again in the future.
“This is a big help for us because almost everything is already here for us to avail, and they are free,” Tad-o said.
