The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) will be deploying more than 1,100 law enforcers, volunteers and force multipliers to secure both residents and tourists during the Holy Week break and the Summer Vacation in Baguio activities that will run up to the end of May this year.
BCPO Chief of Operations Police Lt. Col. Domingo Gambican said that the deployment of the law enforcers, volunteers and force multipliers will start during the Holy Week break and during the various activities that had been lined up by the city government and the private sector for this year’s Summer in Vacation in Baguio (SumVac) to ensure the safety and security of the residents and tourists.
He added that there will be some 633 policemen from the different stations in the city who will be tapped to serve as safety officers augmented by volunteers and force multipliers during the activities that will be conducted in celebration of the SumVac.
The police officer claimed that the law enforcers will be composed of uniformed police personnel and plain clothes policemen to deter the commission of crimes that will compromise the safety and security of the public.
Gambican said that among the force multipliers that were tapped to assist the police personnel during the SumVac activities include the barangay officials and tanods in the various barangays hosting and conducting the activities to ensure safety and security of the public who will be joining the scheduled events.
According to him, the BCPO is closely working with the city government and the organizers of private sector-led activities in relation to the conduct of such events so that law and order is guaranteed in the venue of the activities and its premises.
He assured the readiness of the police personnel and the force multipliers in ensuring the safety and security of the residents and tourists, especially those who will be visiting the various churches around the city during the Holy Week break.
On the other hand, Gambican also guaranteed the availability of traffic personnel who will be managing the different choke points around the city so that the traffic will be properly managed for the benefit of the motorists and to prevent the occurrence of monstrous traffic congestions along major roads in the city.
