CALANASAN, Apayao – 138 families in Cadaclan, Calanasan, were recipients of an outreach program organized by the Apayao Police Provincial Office (APPO) on March 14 and 15, 2024, in celebration of the 2024 National Women’s Month.
Held at Cadaclan Integrated School in Barangay Cadaclan, said outreach program aimed to honor the theme of “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan Patutunayan.” This theme underscores the importance of empowering women, recognizing their rights, and highlighting their vital role in community development.
Led by women personnel from APPO-PHQ, in collaboration with the Calanasan Municipal Police Station, the Provincial Medical and Dental Team supervised by Deputy Provincial Director for Operations LtCol. Mina B Agbisit, and local barangay officials, the program provided food packs and ‘End VAW’ t-shirts to the beneficiary families.
Moreover, the event included a session where female participants were briefed on legislation safeguarding women’s rights and welfare.
For younger participants, engaging activities such as songs and biblical stories were used to emphasize the importance of faith and confidence in overcoming challenges.
The program’s overarching goal was to inspire active participation in promoting and implementing Republic Act 9710, also known as the Magna Carta of Women. By addressing inequalities and advocating for gender equality, the government aims to create a society where women and girls can fully benefit from sustainable development initiatives. By K. Castillo
