BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in collaboration with the Office of Mountain Province House Representative Maximo Dalog, Jr., and the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) held an orientation for the 217 beneficiaries of DOLE’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/ Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program at the Municipal Capitol Auditorium on April 17, 2024.
The TUPAD workers will be deployed in their respective barangays for 10 days at a wage of P430.00 per day or a total of P4, 300.00 per person under the supervision of barangay officials.
They will work under the clean and green program; environmental projects such as repair, maintenance, and/or upgrading of common public amenities and infrastructures, debris clearing, canal de-clogging, debris segregation and materials recovery, stockpiling, and clearing; community projects such as repair, maintenance, and/or restoration of farm-to-market roads.
They said the program being implemented by the DOLE is through the initiative of Congressman Dalog who had looked for funding.
In his message, Bontoc Mayor Jerome “ Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., thanked the Office of Congressman Dalog and DOLE for their unwavering support and commitment to the community’s betterment adding that the TUPAD Program is of great help in providing short-term employment to displaced workers, underemployed, and seasonal workers in the locality, especially of their families’ basic needs.
He highlighted the importance of collaboration and good working relationships between different government agencies and the people towards community development.
The mayor assured that the Bontoc LGU shall continue to collaborate with various agencies to source funds for the implementation and realization of programs that benefit the constituents such as the TUPAD. This forms part of the present’s administration vision which is ENLANGAKHA: Achieving the Vision for A Dyamic Bontoc. One of its pillars is Empowering Communities.
Likewise, Tudlong took the opportunity to inform the TUPAD beneficiaries of the various programs and services of the Bontoc LGU that they may avail of. Thus, he encouraged them to visit the concerned offices of the Bontoc LGU that are implementing said program and services for further inquiries and possible inclusion.
Political Affairs Officer II Dionision Wacdisen who represented Congressman Dalog remarked that the TUPAD Program is a testament to the government’s commitment to uplifting the lives of the people, especially the vulnerable and marginalized sectors in the community.
He assured a strong partnership of the Office of Congressman Dalog with the DOLE and the Bontoc LGU in bringing government programs and services to the community.
