BAGUIO CITY – Some 142 children ages 6-16 years old are expected to complete the annual summer frolics sports training program for the second batch of trainees which started last June 4, 2018 and will culminate on July 4, 2018, at the local YMCA here.
The month long sports training that offered learning of the basics and fundamentals of different sports discipline offered such as Judo, Karate, and Taekwondo for combative arts and Badminton and Basketball for allied sports have bolstered confidence as well as enhanced fitness practices of the children inculcating in their young minds the value and importance of sports and exercise for better living.
The children will be receiving their certificate of completion on simple culminating rites which will be conducted by the different sports clubs of the YMCA of Baguio City.
Meanwhile, some 40 plus toddlers ages 4-6 years old are also expected to complete the YMCA Pre-School Summer Reading Program a preparatory reading program for children early childhood education. The program started May 28, 2018 will culminate on June 29, 2018.
On the other hand, training and practices for children 16 years old and below as a requirement for participation in the “2018 Batang Pinoy” sports competition, started in preparation to the said national competition.
The regular trainings, especially on Martial Art sports Judo, Taekwondo, and Karate conducted by their respective instructors and coaches in the different sports club of the Association, are awaiting final schedules Batang Pinoy events.
Batang Pinoy is sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission and will be hosted by the City Government of Baguio City come September 2018.
