BAGUIO CITY – The Camp John Hay Group of Companies, spearheaded by Camp John Hay Development Corp. (CJHDevCo), will host this year’s ‘Camp John Hay Art Contest’ which will feature unique presentations from various local and national artists.

Conceptualized 18 years ago to provide aspiring young artists with the venue and the opportunity to express themselves and showcase their talents in visual and creative arts, the Camp John Hay Art Contest also gives students and ‘out of school’ youth due recognition as among the best in the creative field of fine arts. In line with the Camp John Hay group’s ‘Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)’ objectives, this is one activity which is directed towards the creative growth of talented and promising young artists.

Alfredo Yñiguez, CJHDevCo executive vice president, said this year’s event, with the theme “ENVIRONMENT and DEVELOPMENT: KEY TO A BETTER FUTURE,” will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Scout Hill area, Camp John Hay, Baguio City.

“The overwhelming success of this annual activity has carried Camp John Hay as the front runner in developing young talents to reach their full potential. To date, the Camp John Hay Art Contest stands as the biggest art competition in Northern Luzon, and certainly aims to expand into a bigger event in the years to come,”  Yñiguez stressed.

The event, divided into three (3) major categories, boasts of cash prizes and trophies amounting to almost P100,000. Winning entries will also be used for print collaterals and advertising materials of various Camp John Hay entities and projects.

Sponsors include Camp John Hay Development Corp.(CJHDevCo), The Manor Hotel, The Forest Lodge, Camp John Hay Golf Club, Rocky Mountain Arabica Coffee Company, Inbound Pacific, Mile Hi Inn, Selecta, Enchanted Kingdom, Farmer’s Coffee, Strawberries & Ice Cream House.

In this regard, all students, “out of school” youth and differently-abled individuals, aged 21 years old and below at the time of the contest, are invited to participate in this annual activity. Registration period will be from November 3 until November 20, 2014, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the Camp John Hay Development Corporation Admin. Office, Scout Hill, Camp John Hay, Baguio City. Entry forms can also be sent via email to: christophertapnio@campjohnhay.com.

Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan commended the unrelenting efforts of the John Hay developer to contribute in the crafting of year-round events that will help the local government attract the influx of more foreign and domestic visitors who will contribute in sustaining the city’s economic growth.

“John Hay developers have been our long-time partners in charting the tourism growth of our city for nearly two decades now. We need more private companies to initiate the conduct of more crowd drawing events so that there will be a sustained growth of our tourism industry,” Domogan stressed.
