City officials recently congratulated and commended Maria Angela U. Yabut, a Grade 12 student from the Philippine Science High School–Cordillera Administrative Region (PSHS-CAR) campus, for earning the spot as the official representative of the country for the International Biology Olympiad (IBO).
In a resolution, city legislators stated that Yabut demonstrated exceptional skills and knowledge throughout the competition and for being a shining example of Filipino excellence worthy of commendation and emulation by her fellow youth not only from the city but also from other parts of the country.
The Philippine Biology Olympiad (PBO) is the country’s premier biology competition for students of Grades 7-12 and serves as the venue for the selection of the country’s representatives to the annual International Biology Olympiad.
Further, the IBO is the association that organizes the world’s premier biology competition for secondary school students.
Yabut finished the competition among the top 5 overall earning her a coveted spot as part of the official representative of the country for the IBO that will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan scheduled in July 2024.
